Meet Our Host Colin Haskins



Colin Haskins is a Poet from Lubec, Maine, USA. As an active poetry event promoter, he dedicated his life to creating new exciting events locally and throughout the world to bring poets, authors, artists, and musicians together for a common goal. He has published many books of poetry among them: Ye Olde Font Shoppe: No Kisses, Mandlebrats, Sinspiration, Judas Goat, The Bones and Habitual Intemperance and published the Ekphrastics book of poems for The New Britain Museum of American Art.

With his "Free Poets Collective" Colin has founded several poetry series nationwide. He brought innovative poetry projects to many libraries, museums and cultural centers throughout New England. Among them: Wood Memorial Library, the Durham Public Library, the Avon Free Public Library and for many years, worked as Poetry Director at The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts & Cultural Center, Middletown, CT. He has host and created several innovative and successful national and international poetry and arts events for over 30 years.

Colin Haskins endeavors and has taken him away from poetry to explore new innovative horizons. He is the creator and host of the online shows: "CCIS-On Location" by the Connecticut Cryptid Investigative Society and "The Listening Tree Talk Show", coordinated with the help of his very creative and talented team and the Free Poets Collective.



He created and hosted the still ongoing Spoken Word Series. He created and managed many programs including, One Soldier One Poem ( honoring CTs passed War Veterans ), World Language Night, and Poetry, a fundraiser to assist animal shelters. He also founded the Legends of Poetry. He is the first American ambassador and coordinator of the Woman Scream International Poetry and Arts Festival in Connecticut, hosted in over 30 countries worldwide in honor of women and against women abuse.

Colin Haskins has organized and worked with many National Landmarks located in Connecticut including The Mark Twain House and Museum, The Harriett Beecher Stowe House and Center, The Charter Oak Cultural Center, The Webb Dean Stevens Museum, The New Britain Museum of American Art, The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts & Cultural Center, Artist Tree Tea House, Gallery 53, City Steam Brewery, libraries in South Windsor, West Hartford, Ellington, Middletown, Farmington, Cheshire, Meriden and Durham, The Meriden Humane Society, The Queenie Foundation, The National Theater of the Deaf, and The American School for the Deaf, The American Red Cross ( New Britain Office), among others.
